Projection on the verizon building as we saw it from the beautiful, peaceful march across the Brooklyn Bridge tonight. Lots of somber, unfriendly helmeted cops in Manhattan, but when we arrived in Brooklyn some cops were cheering us on and joking with protesters. Spirits are high, happy two months Occupy Wall Street! This little boy was jumping up and down shouting “Salaam Walekum! Salaam Walekum!” to the protesters returning to Occupy Wall Street from a march. So adorable.

I did not think a day would ever come, not really, when I found myself no longer being surprised to answer the phone with “Hey, have you been arrested?” But this seems to be the way of things because the NYPD are really trying hard to break Occupy Wall Street. It’s horrifying, facing up to the fact that the cops, who we are supposed to protect civilians, are there to stop us, to destroy our peaceful movement, but after a certain number of arrests, macings, and beatings I can’t deny it anymore, the cops are trying to wage a war against us.
We aren’t going anywhere. The best way to fight their violence is with more peace.

This suit did not like our closing bell march or the gal in front of me photographing him, which is a big part of why I turned my camera on continuous and shoved it in his face. This shot embodies the smug jerkiness of our opponents. What’s funniest is that this guy by no means looked wealthy enough to be in the 1%, and therefore actually belongs with us. Occupy Wall Street!

Occupy Wall Street!

It takes all kinds of noisemakers to form the revolution! Washboard action at an Occupy Wall Street march.
